Another Pasta Sauce Jar Bites the Dust

Yes, it is a sad, sad news day for us canning and recycling/reusing folks.

Once upon a time, in a great land, far far away, where everyone was self-reliant, stockpiled, and put food by, there was a pasta sauce company which supported us: Classico.

But like many other things nowadays, Classico has been taken over by nefarious forces while we slept blissfully unaware. Their jars have been redesigned.

Yes, they look like the "old" kind. They even have the same embossing crying out the word "Atlas Mason" along with jar measurements embossed on the other side.

But it's a sham. A facade. A way for the evil-doers to trick you in to believing you are getting something (i.e., a reusable canning jar) in a two-for-one deal (pasta sauce & a great jar.)

But you don't have to take my printed word for it. You can watch the tragedy unfold via YouTube at http://youtu.be/CunoDdK1PAc.

Bring tissues.

  1. It's not a total loss.... If the seal is still good you can use them for water baths. Stuff like jams should seal again {no pressure cooking} and you can use the jars to make your own juices {like grape juice}
